“Once again Herodias rages, once again she is mad, once again she dances, and once again she demands from Herod the head of John the Baptist,” reminds us St. John Chrysostom.
Another crime committed by the Muscovites in Kryvyi Rih — against humanity and common sense — once again urges every Christian to clearly testify before God and people: Whose side are they on — Christ’s or Belial’s?
We see the abyss into which church leaders in Muscovy have fallen. They inspire the Russian state and society to commit injustice and crimes against humanity, diabolically justifying lawlessness under the guise of fighting for “Gospel values.”
Unfortunately, in Ukraine, we also do not always hear the voice of the UOC church leadership speaking out in defense of God’s Truth. Many hierarchs avoid giving a moral assessment of the criminal acts of the Russian army, the Kremlin regime, and the broader Muscovite society. The manipulation of ecclesiological concepts becomes a tool to justify violence and the usurpation of sacred values.
We, the members of the public organization “Sofiiske Bratstvo”, are convinced that the Church of Christ is called by God to call things by their proper names: white — white, black — black. Just as salt that loses its flavor is thrown away as useless, so too those who turn away from the truth deserve condemnation.
We recognize the killings of Ukrainian civilians by the Russian army as a crime against humanity, and we hold the Russian Orthodox Church and its head, “Patriarch” Kirill, morally responsible for these victims, as they justify and bless this genocidal war.
We firmly call upon the hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) to sever all ties with the Babylonian harlot — the ROC (Russian Orthodox Church), in accordance with the words of the Apostle Paul (1 Cor. 5:9–12).
In this tragedy, we stand with the families who have lost their loved ones. We express our deepest condolences and our prayers. The Lord Jesus Christ embraces each of those who perished, and mourns with all who suffer loss.
While actively standing for justice, we entrust vengeance to Almighty God, for He is faithful to His word: “Vengeance is Mine — I will repay,” (Romans 12:19).
