Today, social media was flooded with footage of clashes at the St. Michael’s Cathedral in the city of Cherkasy.
Such incidents are unacceptable in the House of God, as both believers and community activists have repeatedly stated. We all remember the calls against violent confrontations in similar cases in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and even in Cherkasy in the past.
The Sophia Brotherhood condemns such methods and deems it unacceptable to engage in violent takeovers and confrontations in a church, understanding that these clashes will be professionally exploited for the media narrative in Russian and Western outlets.
On the other hand, we also condemn the actions of Metropolitan Feodosiy (Snihiriov) of Cherkasy and Kaniv for destabilizing Ukraine and for his open promotion of the ideology of the “Russian World.” The Sophia Brotherhood calls on UOC believers not to participate in services where prayers are openly offered for Patriarch Kirill as their “great lord and father” and to resist following such church manipulators and anti-Ukrainian hierarchs as Metropolitan Feodosiy.
