Dear Friends,
We are pleased to present to you a report by the Religious Freedom Department of Mission Eurasia (USA), which highlights a dire situation demanding immediate attention and action from the global community. Amid pressing and deeply alarming developments, this study examines the plight of religious communities in the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia since February 2022. It unveils the shocking reality in which religious communities and associated structures are systematically targeted, seized, and destroyed, while religious freedoms are severely restricted.
The report is authored by Pastor Mykhailo Brytsyn, Director of the Religious Freedom Department of Mission Eurasia. In his research, he meticulously documents Russian aggression, providing compelling evidence of the extraordinary harm inflicted as of November 2023. The report underscores the alarming scale of persecution and destruction, which has affected at least 630 religious buildings, including Ukrainian Orthodox churches and Evangelical prayer houses.
An updated version of the study, including statistics through 2024, will be released soon.
