On Thursday, November 14, a conference-hackathon titled “The Sophia Brotherhood – a Community of Idealistic Dreamers or Pragmatic Doers?” began in Kyiv. The event was organized by the Sophia Brotherhood, the Open Orthodox University of Sophia the Wisdom, and the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue.
Before the start of the conference, a prayer service for Ukraine and the unity of Ukrainian Orthodoxy was held in the Church of Small (Warm) Sophia, located on the grounds of the National Preserve “Saint Sophia of Kyiv.” Following the service, Honored Artist of Ukraine, violinist Ihor Cherniavskyi from Kharkiv, performed in the church.
The forum opened with a workshop titled “Open Orthodoxy as a Network and Ecosystem,” led by Archpriest Heorhiy Kovalenko, Rector of the Open Orthodox University of Sophia the Wisdom.
The first day of the conference concluded with a collaborative discussion on the Brotherhood’s preliminary achievements and defining its key priorities, facilitated by religious sociologist Tetiana Kalenichenko.
