Dear friends, on the day of the Indiction – the ecclesiastical New Year – we are pleased to present a new Ukrainian Orthodox educational portal – “Sofioteka”.
The portal’s name combines two concepts: Sophia – the Wisdom of God – and “-teka” – a collection of texts, knowledge, and cultural heritage. “Sofioteka” is intended to become an open and well-organised space where the Orthodox tradition encounters contemporary theological thought, scholarship, education, and culture.
The project aims to make Ukrainian Orthodox theology accessible to a broad audience: laypeople, clergy, students, lecturers, scholars, and everyone interested in Christianity and the life of the Church.
The portal will publish materials on the foundations of the Orthodox faith, Holy Scripture, dogma, canon law, Church tradition, and the history of Christianity. A separate section is dedicated to contemporary Ukrainian theology – Ukrainian scholars, academic and journalistic works, translations, interviews, lectures, and materials from theological discussions.
The section for clergy will feature pastoral, liturgical, homiletic, canonical, and practical resources. The “Education and Scholarship” section will bring together academic articles, research papers, educational publications, and conference materials. An Orthodox digital library and a library of sacred music scores will also be developed gradually.
“Sofioteka” is only beginning its work, so new sections will be added and populated gradually. It is important to us that every published resource be reliable, useful, and properly organised.
“Sofioteka” is a place where the Orthodox tradition is not only preserved but also reflected upon and translated into the language of the present day.
