Dear friends! We are happy to share some good news — we have just received from the printing house the new print run of the Sophia Brotherhood Church Calendar for 2026.

We have compiled a collection of texts—publications, presentations, and articles—written and delivered between April and October 2025 as part of the project “Modern Ukrainian Orthodoxy: Debunking Myths for the Sake of Reconciliation among Orthodox Christians in Ukraine and the Consolidation of Ukrainian Society.”

On December 10, 2025, a round table titled “Dialogue between the Church, the State, and Society: Paths to Mutual Understanding” was held in Kyiv. The event was organized by the Sophia Brotherhood with the support of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue.

On 7 September 2025, at the National Reserve “St. Sophia of Kyiv”, the public association Sophia Brotherhood, with the support of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), held a round table entitled “From Debunking Myths to the Search for the Common Good: Contemporary Dialogue Initiatives in Ukrainian Orthodoxy and Prospects for Post-War Renewal.”

During Great Lent 2025, the Chairman of the “St. Sophia Brotherhood,” Protopriest Oleksandr Sorokin, made the decision to join the Orthodox Church of Ukraine after leaving the parish of St. Alexander Nevsky of the UOC in the village of Khotiv, Kyiv region, where he had served as the second priest for three years.

At the Stauropegion of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine (located at the St. Andrew’s Church in Kyiv), a presentation was held for the new Orthodox Prayer Book of the Kyiv recension.

On April 29 in Kyiv, a roundtable and three panel discussions took place as part of the educational-analytical project “Modern Ukrainian Orthodoxy: Debunking Myths for the Sake of Reconciliation Among Orthodox Christians in Ukraine and the Consolidation of Ukrainian Society,” organized by the Sophia Brotherhood with the support of the Renovabis Foundation.

Sophia Brotherhood member, Professor Andriy Smyrnov, participated in the in-person gathering of the Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity Reference Group, convened for the first time by the World Council of Churches (WCC) from March 13 to 18 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The publication was carried out by the Mission of the “Stauropegion of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine” under the leadership of the Exarch of the Ecumenical Patriarch in Ukraine, Bishop Mykhailo of Komana.

Our Ukrainian people cherish their age-old traditions with special reverence. We have many traditions, deeply rooted in our daily lives and uniting us in the shared existence on our native land.

My presentation deals with the topic of human rights and just peace not from a legal but from an ecclesial perspective. What is it in the church that encourages or hinders the perception and appreciation of human rights and the establishment and maintenance of a just peace ensured by the observance of these rights?

Our calendar has a unique format—it combines both the Revised Julian and Julian church calendars. When opened, each month displays feast days according to the Revised Julian calendar at the top and the Julian calendar at the bottom.

The conference-hackathon titled “The Sophia Brotherhood – a Community of Idealistic Dreamers or Pragmatic Doers?” has concluded in Kyiv.

Yesterday’s meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church turned out to be historic. For the first time in UOC history, the decisions of this governing body were not published anywhere, although they have always been made public immediately after the meeting, either on the official website (or in the 1990s, in the journal “Orthodox Herald” or “Church Newspaper”).

Today (October 23) has every chance to become a landmark date in the history of global Orthodoxy. This is because today, the Synods of two Churches, which have many unresolved issues between them—the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Church (UOC)—are both in session.

Yesterday, on August 28, a long-awaited and significant event took place for the Sophia Brotherhood. Responding to our initiative, members of the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s delegation, consisting of Archbishop Ilarion of Winnipeg, Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, Metropolitan Job of Pisidia, and Patriarchal Deacon Epifanii Kamianovych, met with representatives of our non-governmental organization at St. Andrew’s Church.
